《婚姻法》
1950年5月出台的《婚姻法》，是新政府立下的第一部大法。法律规定不准包办买卖婚姻、不准纳妾、也不准收童养媳。乡下成千上万受虐待的媳妇以为天亮了，拿着条子去县里退婚，回头却被公婆和丈夫拿麻绳捆在柴房里活活打死。

Under the June 1950 Agrarian Reform Law, work teams dispatched to hundreds of thousands of villages classified every rural household by class status and organized face-to-face struggle meetings (douzhenghui) to confiscate land and shatter the traditional rural gentry through public violence.

性质
新政权推行婚姻法，不是单纯同情小媳妇，而是要用国家权力砸开旧家族的铁门槛。以前家里族长说了算，现在必须归村支书和法官管。但千年积攒下来的夫权哪有那么好破，很多女人还没尝到自主的滋味，就成了破旧立新的殉葬品。
