北戴河会议，人民公社
1958年8月，中央在海边北戴河开会，吹牛吹出了大漏子。听信了各地虚报的粮食高产卫星，高层拍板下令：今年全国钢产量必须翻一番，达到1070万吨，同时农村全面成立人民公社。几千万壮劳力扔下熟透的庄稼不管，砍树砸锅去炼废铁，把整个国家推上了荒唐的高峰。

Following the August 1958 Beidaihe Conference, 740,000 agricultural cooperatives were merged within months into 26,000 giant People's Communes. Private plots and household cooking were abolished in favor of compulsory collective canteens before grain reserves collapsed into famine.
